Why is Synk asking me to install the scheduler?
All scheduling information is maintained by the Synk scheduler, which is a small independent program which always runs in the background. Scheduled runs cannot take place without the scheduler being present, nor can schedule information be saved.
Synk asks to install (or reinstall) the scheduler in the following conditions:
- When you first enable scheduling for a document
- When Synk first launches and Synk cannot contact the scheduler, even though it appears to be installed
- When a document with a schedule is being saved, and Synk cannot contact the scheduler to set the schedule for the document
- When opening or closing any document, whether or not it has a schedule set, and the scheduler appears to be installed. This is necessary so that (a) Synk can display the correct schedule (if any) by retreiving that information from the scheduler, and (b) disabling the schedule on a document will take effect, otherwise even though there is no schedule set for the document, it may still be executed on an old schedule. If the scheduler is not installed, Synk assumes that there is no old schedule, and so it displays a blank schedule for the document and doesn't worry about saving it.
